Courage the Cowardly Dog season 5 (2023)

TitleEpisode #The Lumberjack/Jailhouse Dog1The Lumberjack: On a lazy day, the ground begins to quake. A giant woodcutter snatches the Bagges and make them tend to his things, as he has difficulty manipulating small things. Eventually, he makes Courage in particular his helper. Courage must keep him from hurting anyone.

Jailhouse Dog: When Eustace is annoyed by Courage, he gives him a list of chores to keep him away from the house for a while. While Courage is completing them (and Eustace asks for some pretty strange things), an old, confused dogcatcher apprehends him and locks him in a prison-like pound. The other dogs don’t like him and do a hazing ritual. Courage resolves to escape, and eventually wins the support of the other dogs.

Nasty Rockers/Time Capsule2Nasty Rockers One night, Nasty Rockers and their fans arrive in Nowhere, and begin blasting their music all night. When the Bagges want them to keep it down, they are kidnapped. The lead rocker, Johnny Taboo, is actually demonic.

Time Capsule: Eustace sees something on TV about somebody who made a fortune with a metal detector, so he rushes to find one that he has had in storage. After wandering around the farm, he finds something, a rusty old time capsule. He brings it in, sure that something valuable is inside it, and puts it down on the table, where he works to pry it open in spite of Courage’s worrying. Eventually, steam technology emerges from it and keeps spreading and growing until it takes over Nowhere.

Courthouse Courage/Bad Luck3Courthouse Courage: In the middle of a heat wave, a chameleon in a business suit shows up at the Farmhouse and evicts the tenants by exposing that he is in possession of the real copy of the deed. Living under a bridge, Courage learns that the Chameleon is actually after something in the house itself, possibly a bowdlerized doorway to Hell.

Bad Luck: A mirror is broken, cursing the Bagge farm with bad luck. Courage must find a way to undo the curse before the farm is destroyed.

Creepy Camera/Treat and Tricksters4Creepy Camera: A camera creates creepy copies of anything it photographs. (Could this, and the luck and future episodes be combined somehow?) Courage eventually makes an army of Courage clones.

Treat and Tricksters: Muriel is carving pumpkins and Eustace is watching TV. On Halloween, trick-or-treaters show up at the farm. Eustace is suspicious, noting that they have no neighbors, but Muriel wants to give them something. Courage is suspicious, and eventually they do something threatening.

Courage Under the Northern Lights/Foxhunt5Courage Under the Northern Lights: On a trip to Iceland, Courage and co. run afoul of a faerie queen.

Foxhunt: Courage convinces some hunting dogs not to hurt him by proving that he is a dog. However, he takes pity on a fox that they are hunting. (Courage is sent to a dog training school)

Courage of Arabia/Dentures6Courage of Arabia: Courage must help a sad genie.

Dentures: Muriel gets a terrible toothache. A dentist wants to try his new dentures on Eustace, while Courage is locked up because the dentist is disgusted by his teeth.

The Wedding/The Pirates of Nowhere7The Wedding: Courage and the Bagges are invited to the wedding of two monsters (probably the swamp man and swamp woman) that Courage helped to get together. But when they arrive, they find that it is crawling with other monsters who hate Courage.

The Pirates of Nowhere: Some land-pirates come through, seeking their buried treasure, and they take the Bagges as slaves.

The Beach/Courage in Pictures8The Beach: The Bagges go to the beach, but the water recedes, taking Muriel with it. Possibly some sort of sea being has become angry with the poor treatment of his ocean, so he is going to take it all and sell it back in water bottles.

Courage in Pictures: Muriel is stolen by a character from a book, and Courage follows her through bizarre two-dimensional worlds.

Corn on the Brain/Courage and the Spy9Corn on the Brain: Aliens make corn grow on the farm, in the shape of a strange message. When Muriel eats some, her brain begins to grow and she develops psychic powers.

Courage and the Spy: A spy mistakes the Bagges for rival agents. In the end, he turns out to be a double agent from the agency.

Sitar Hero/The Reality Warper10Sitar Hero: The Bagges are in India, in India-themed vacation outfits. Courage tries eating something, but the spiciness of it is too much for him. Muriel meets a sitar performer she admires. However, he is rude and dismissive of Muriel and Courage, which makes Muriel angry. The two get into a competition and actually turn out to be well matched. The ante gets upped and they decide to charm huge snakes. Possibly a mongoose gets involved.

The Reality Warper: Courage befriends a being who can change reality when stressed out, often resulting in Courage being changed into things. In the end, he voluntarily leaves, but thanks Courage for his kindness.

Not Dead Yeti/The Organ Thief11Not Dead Yeti: Courage is checking the mail, and finds a letter that arrived days ago, when a truck shoots past him. Eustace is mistaken for Horst by a woman who knew him, and decides to play along. This takes them on a trip to the Himalayas.

The Organ Thief: A Doctor/Frankenstein's monster steals organs from Nowhere. When Eustace and Muriel have their organs stolen, Courage goes to a lab, where organs watch him in a parody of The Birds.

Computer Pains/The Magic Rose of Love12Computer Pains: When the computer has a glitch and fritzes out, Courage finds the phone number of the person who created it at a computer company. The creator of the computer arrives, and reveals that he has built a better one, and the computer has to ask Courage for help. Possibly leads into a cyber house plot. The two computers show down.

The Magic Rose of Love: After a magic rain, roses grow at the farmhouse. Muriel is pricked by one and can only be awakened by true love. Courage must find a way to make the famer loveable.

Night of the Dead Dead/Happy Land13Night of the Dead Dead: Muriel and Eustace are getting dressed up, even though Eustace doesn’t really want to. Muriel pressures him and he relents, but on the condition that the dog stay home. Muriel agrees, and Eustace demands that Courage remain behind, going so far as to lock him in, and threatening him lest anything be out of place when he gets back. He then pulls out a huge key and locks a giant lock on the door. That night, Courage is freaked out by thunder, and tries to run to save Muriel. He may use a telescope to verify that she is all right. Lightning strikes the ground outside and the dead begin rise. As the rain stops, the revelers bust into the farmhouse and begin to throw a wild party. Courage runs about, trying to keep them from destroying anything.

Happy Land: The Bagges take a trip to a nostalgic theme park to find it in disrepair. There is a weasel carny-type who appears at every single ride. They get on a rusty ride, but it collapses before it can even start. I expect there is not as much danger in this episode, and the weasel is sleazy but not actually evil. Muriel left something here, which came alive missing her? It is the stuffed animal prizes. They have come to life.

Wishes/The Conflict-Meister14Wishes: The Bagges find a trinket, given to Courage by a mermaid that grants wishes. In the end, Courage uses it to help the mermaid, but uses up the last of the wishes. However, Eustace discovers one remaining and wishes for more wishes, causing the episode to restart.

The Conflict-Meister: When Eustace and Muriel fight, a mysterious being (a conflict-meister of sorts) shows up and empowers them to fight more, creating for them walls and weapons out of thin air. In the end, it turns out they learned a lesson. Alternatively, there are two such beings, and they use Eustace and Muriel to continue their own fight.

Phantom of the Kabuki Theater/Vampire Castle15Phantom of the Kabuki Theater: Courage must keep anyone from getting hurt in a phantom of the opera situation in a Japanese Kabuki theater.

Vampire Castle: Muriel and Eustace find themselves in a castle full of vampires, but Courage can't figure out their intentions.

The Queen Bee/Waddlers16The Queen Bee: A queen bee of a languishing hive bemoans the lack of flowers when she Muriel put some up in the farmhouse. She and her bees take over and put the Bagges to work growing more flowers. Courage dresses up as a bee in order to find a way to help them. Dance contest?

Waddlers: Start with a scene of the Penguins. Angered by warm temperatures, they come to Nowhere (derivative of snowman…). Alternatively, the snowman angered them in the first place… Alternatively, there is snow at the farmhouse, and Courage frolics in it, until he sees shapes in the snow (which are penguins…)

(Video) Courage the Cowardly Dog Reboot

Hex Specs/Time Freeze17Hex Specs: Courage finds a monocle that shows bad futures before they happen, but also causes them to happen, and Courage must race to avert them. Split screen view shows things happening before they do. He realizes that they are caused by a being who can only be seen through the monocle. In the end, he destroys the monocle.

Time Freeze: The Bagges are passing time on a slow day. Cosmic forces strike a clock and cause time to freeze. The Bagges at first have fun with it, but time begins to fall apart, as the screen seems to literally shatter, trapping them on separate fragments. Courage manages to use this to go back in time to prevent the whole thing. In the end, there is a sense of here we go again.

Katz Fashion/El Courage Matador18Katz Fashion: Katz opens a club and makes coats out of animals… dogs allowed.

El Courage Matador: Courage has memories of an ancestor who was a bullfighter. However, some aristocrats want him dead and send him up against monstrous bulls. He manages to survive, but learns that the bulls are to be killed. He frees them, and invents the running of the bulls. In the end, he learns that this was his ancestor.

Island of the Lost/Beauty Medusa19Island of the Lost: The Bagges take a vacation to an island, but the pilot jumps out when he hears where they're going.

Beauty Medusa: A hideous medusa invents a way to turn people extremely ugly. She goes around making everyone in Nowhere ugly. She takes Muriel and Courage hostage, and they try to make her feel beautiful. When Eustace sees her, he freaks out about how ugly the gorgon is.

Cockroach Castle/Le Quack Insurance20Cockroach Castle: Muriel obtains a new vacuum, which frightens the insects in their house. Possibly Eustace's attitude toward them does likewise. Courage gets sucked into the medieval-style world of insects when he is shrunken down by an insect wizard, who wants his help. Or, alternatively, they want to shrink all of the giants.

Le Quack Insurance: Le Quack comes up with an insurance scam to turn over everything the signer owns if anything bad happens to them.

Farmer Lost/The Hair That Ate Everything21Farmer Lost: After stealing a treasure map from Shirley, Eustace is cursed to always get lost. However, he refuses to admit that he doesn't know where he's going, dragging the family on an increasingly bizarre and dangerous road trip.

The Hair That Ate Everything:

Courage Meets the Reaper22The Bagges go to the Nowhere renaissance fair and are all in costume. They meet a figure in a dark cloak (who terrifies Courage). The figure introduces himself as a Grim Reaper, he is only a trainee, and he won’t collect the souls he needs in time, and if he doesn’t, he will have to go back to the academy for five thousand years. He shows the Bagges a picture of his quarry, an old man and woman who look a bit like (but clearly are not) Eustace and Muriel. Realizing the similarity, he takes them instead, disappearing into a portal into the underworld. Courage goes to Shirley to ask for her help to get to the underworld after them. Courage shows down with the Reaper in order to win the Bagges' souls back.
